Connecting the experience of tea  . . .

“When tea becomes ritual, it takes its place at the heart of our ability to see greatness in small things. Where is beauty to be found? In great things that, like everything else, are doomed to die, or in small things that aspire to nothing, yet know how to set a jewel of infinity in a single moment?”

Muriel Barbery

. . . with visions of world peace.

“The day the power of love overrules the love of power, the world will know peace.”

Mahatma Gandhi

Dear Sippers,

This Saturday, September 21st, 2019 is the annual celebration of the International Day of Peace. So I offer this suggestion; if you choose only one day to Sip for Peace, let it be this day. Millions of people around the world will be taking different actions to share their desire for and belief in the potential for a world without war.

Jeremy Gilley is the founder of International Day of Peace so I have included the video of his Ted Talk here for you. It has inspired and challenged me. It motivated Sip for Peace that is built on the belief that, as tea drinkers, we are already an international community acting in many small ways to feel a meaningful connection.

This year’s theme is “Climate Action for Peace” and this is hugely relevant to all of us as we increase our awareness of how tea is grown, how people are respected and how the integrity of the land is sustained.

Thank you for joining me this week as we focus on three more countries of origin; Sri Lanka, China and Japan. And my thanks to everyone who contributed tea and meditations to this project.

Joyful Sipping,
